The constitutionalist, university professor and specialist in new technologies & Cyberlaw, Raquel Brízida Castro, is the latest acquisition of Andersen Tax & Legal in Portugal, as Of Counsel.
The hiring of this PhD in Public Law is part of an ambitious growth strategy by one of the most important law firms in Portugal, assuming a deliberate commitment to the complex and new legal challenges posed by Cyberspace, namely, the right to protection of personal data, cybersecurity and online privacy.
Raquel Brízida Castro will also strengthen the legal team dedicated to Public Law of Andersen Tax & Legal in Portugal, particularly in the areas of constitutional litigation, administrative law and Media regulation.
Andersen Tax & Legal’s latest Consultant in Portugal holds a PhD in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, institution where she obtained the Master’s degree in Law in 2003, and the “Licenciatura” in Law, in 1998. She has been Professor of the same Faculty for a decade, where she also currently serves as Assistant Director .
She is a Senior Investigator at the Centre for Research in Public Law (CIDP) and Cyberlaw Research Centre (CIJIC), both at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.
She was a member of the regulatory Board of the ERC – Portuguese regulatory Entity for the Media – in the previous term (2011-2016), and was a journalist for 25 years, 19 of which at portuguese media group SIC, where she also served as Policy Editor.
Since 2011, Raquel Brízida Castro has been exclusively dedicated to law.
